I Am Enough

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people
won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others." ~ Marianne Williamson

New Treasures and No Camera!!

Good afternoon friends,

I hope the day's dawning finds you well rested and ready to face the day.

It has been a bit busy for us today. We went to the architectural salvage company here in town and looked for stained glass, some shutters for my dining and living room windows, and a storm window for the porch. I didn't find what I was looking for but was able to price the things I want. Tomorrow we'll head over to the Habitat for Humanity store and see what they have.

We picked up a large batch of lava rock from Freecycle so I'm heading outside later today to spread those around the tree.

I had a very productive thrift store run yesterday-20 outfits for work, including a pantsuit and red formal suit, a gorgeous planter, a framed piece of hardanger embroidery, and a HUGE pueblo indian platter that came from Mexico that has a blue bird and flowers painted and glazed into it.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for pictures of the new things because my camera is in the repair shop. The battery door broke!!

Tomorrow, I will start putting the collector's plates, etc back up so the dining room will be mostly done.

What are the rest of you up to????

  1. Hi Paulissa,

today was a long one. I cleaned house did laundry, made a potato salad and was just getting ready to relax when Ruby my chihuahua started growling and barking like she was trying to tell me something. And that she was! My garbage disposal had backed up and went into some drain and overflowed into the laundry room. I had a flood that took me hours to clean up. Tonight my son inlaw came over to help my husband tilt the washing machine so we could clean up the water under it. What a mess. Our washer and dryer sits on pedestals which made it harder to get underneath the machine.

I am anxious to see your treasures and more pictures of your dining room. I wish our town had better thrift stores.

  2. OOOOHHHHH I don't envy you that job.

We do have a couple of good thrift stores. but I wish I had some closer to my home. I never walk out of the usual stores empty handed so that's good. I'm not usually that lucky with finding clothing, though.

I'm starting up with the Leslie Sansone DVDs today. I need to get serious about working out and eating healthy. How are you doing with the calorie counting??

  3. Well lets see, I counted calories for awhile and then tried points again and didn't stick to it either. I am now trying to eat in moderation, eat healthy, and stay away from the scales. I sometimes drive myself crazy with getting on the scales too often. It sounds as though you are doing great.

Have you started your kitchen painting yet? What have you been crocheting as of late? Oh I thank you for putting Miss Mamie Violets kitchen on your list for the One Lovely Blog Award. I am going to post it today. It might take me a little longer to post 15 more people though. I will work on it though.
    Have a wonderful day.

  4. I haven't been doing as much crocheting as I thought I would while I've been on break because I've been gardening instead.

The kitchen will get painted over the 4th of July weekend most likely.

I'm trying hard with the weight loss; I need to get into the mindset of doing instead of trying. I've gotten the measuring cups/spoons out, am counting exchanges, and tracking the food eaten and exercise in spark. I find I do much better with the eating when I'm exercising because I don't want to wipe out the sweat equity.

I don't know about you, but while I like the blog awards , as I was trying to find people to give the award to I thought "This is kind of like blog chain mail." It was hard to come up with 15 blogs.

  5. It will be nice to have your kitchen done. I can hardly wait for mine, but we are doing every other part of the house first.

I envy you with your gardening. My husband hates yard work, but had finally got a real nice lawn front and back and some disease hit it and every other lawn on our street. We are on water restriction stage 2. In our water bill that came yesterday the rules were listed. We can only water three times a week at certain hours, and on certain days. No hosing the driveway or sidewalks. When we water each area can be no more than 10 minutes.

I do like awards, but not all awards have the same requirements and I think that the 15 other blogs that we have to post to pass the award on to in this case, is a little time consuming.I am not nearly as busy of a person as you, so I think it was easier for me. I did discover though a lot of blogs that I really like that I had not seen before.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have the list of your amount exchanges allowed posted anywhere? I use to do exchanges way back in the seventies and it worked well. That is the way I lost 78 pounds. It came back though. I would like to lose about 40 lbs this time around. I love your porch sitting and sharing blog. You really have so many good recipes and such a lot of information on Healthy ways. It's too bad that you don't have more people using it. Well I have went on and on. Sorry about that.

  6. I just put the list up on the groovy healthy ways blog for you. Hope it helps

  7. Yep I wish there were more following the recipe blog but I don't know how to get them there so I suppose that word of mouth will have to do.

I'm glad you like it there. I have lots of articles and recipes I'm trying to get posted over there so I can shut down my yahoogroup so little by little I'm putting them on groovy healthy or on the recipe blog.

  8. btw if you need to know how many exchanges to eat for your calorie range let me know and I'll look it up for you in Joanna's HELP book.

  9. That would be great. I might have that book. My books, at least a great deal of them are packed away where I can't get to them ,while our house continues to be a mess. I am so grateful that we are working on it though. I am going to celebrate big when it is done. By my estimation, that will be at least 18 months at best.
My calories are 1600 a day.
I can no longer get by on lower amounts.

  10. for 1600 calories

    You get 6 starch exchanges
    6 lean protein exchanges
    3 fats
    6 veggies
    4 fruits
    2 dairy
    1 bonus calories

here's a website that has all the exchanges for the foodmover (which uses the diabetic exchange program)
