I Am Enough

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people
won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others." ~ Marianne Williamson

Good Beginning to 2009

Good morning from the frozen Midwest!!!!

I haven't done an update here in a few days so here goes. It is -16 degrees outside and not fit for man or beast. I am sooooooo ready for spring!!! It appears that we're supposed to have a warm-up next week.

The picture above reflects where I would really rather be; by the ocean just relaxing and taking it all in. This quarter of school has been pretty trying and I'm finding myself barely treading water trying to keep up. From here on out or at least until the math classes are done (3 more quarters) I will only be taking my math class. I am too slow getting through it to try 2 classes. I get the right answer but takes me a while lol!!!

I began my serious weight loss effort on Christmas Day and have now lost 7 lbs through measuring my portions, watching calories (tracking in sparkpeople), aerobics and strength training. I can feel myself getting stronger and actually look forward to doing the workout first thing in the morning - who would have thunk it????

Tomorrow is David's lodge installation so we're having breakfast out. I think I may just opt for eggs and toast, but we'll see. At any rate, I will do a longer than usual video to burn more calories.

Next weekend is the Cathedral Floral Festival. St. Cecelia's church does a festival involving music - harp, vibraphone, etc, flowers and artist interpretations of the floral designs throughout. Very beautiful!!! In fact, the main photo on the blog is from the festival.

  1. 16 degrees sounds pretty cold to me. Actually I think the coldest weather I have ever experienced was in the low 20's and that was in Minden Nevada.

I think Day before yesterday it was 91 degrees and for the most part for the past few days it has been in the mid-eighties.

Congratulations on your 7 lbs lost. I have not been able to get myself back on track since the holidays. I am working on it though.

Hang in there with your math. I know you will be glad when it's finished and done with.

I have been up since three so now it is about 5:30 or a little after , most of my housework is done and I am going to the grocery store early if I can stay awake. I want to bake bread and work on my never finished sewing room that needs organizing.
By the way I love Mary Englebreit too. I also love Debbie Mumm. I love her free backgrounds for your desktop.

Heres wishing you a wonderful happy and safe weekend.

  2. It's been pretty awful for the past week but we are supposed to thaw out next week and be up into the 40s.

I'm doing OK with math grade-wise but am drowning in the homework! Next quarter should be better because I will only have one class.

My mentor gave me a $100 gift card from Hancock Fabrics as a congrats on the promotion and "thanks for being with me during the chemo treatments" gift so I bought some gorgeous wool yarn, some nice hooks and tools. I was just floored. He said, "Do not buy yarn to make things for others - go spoil YOURSELF." lol!!! Twenty years - he knows me tooooooo well.
